Painted Nails

All these ladies with painted nails, carefully arranged faces (a bouquet of eyelashes here, a bush of brows there, a GMO nose thrown in as a centerpiece) have botoxed souls that may lead you to think: how pretty and self-considered! 

But my unironic ear just keeps hearing “You have girded your loins in a most laughable way for this world” – Kafka’s remark prompted by who knows what else?
